Worth bearing in mind

Is America actually in a state of war?
Bin Laden was a self-mythologized figure of no historic standing until George W. Bush designated him America's equal by defining 9/11 as an act of war to be met with war, instead of a crime to be met with criminal justice. But this over-reaction, so satisfying at the time to the wounded American psyche, turned into the war for which the other party simply did not show up. Which is, of course, why we are blasting a substitute Iraq to smithereens.

I'm interested in seeing his approval ratings after tomorrow's big speech. Go ahead Mr. President, give us some more of that good ol' fashioned Texas straight talk! And by that I mean, bullshit us some more!

"The economy's doing great - my buddies over there at Exxon just posted the greatest profit in American history! I must be doin' somethin' right!"

He's a stupid asshole. McCain 08.

Excellent article - you cannot fight terror with force, you must fight terror with information. The fact we bomb the crapola out of random countries is just to satiate the idiots who cannot rationalize that to fight terrorism requires finesse, not brute strength

There was a great line out of Franken's new book. First he's quoting Bush from the campaign in 2004:

"Some folks say I have a kind of strut. In Texas, we call that 'walking.'"

"Yeah, in Minnesota we call it strutting. In New York, we call it 'being an asshole."
