Are you there God? It's me, Tom

How embarrassing is it that Ron Howard and Tom Hanks -- arguably two of the best in the game at their positions -- got together and managed to turn such a popular novel into such an awful movie?

The da Vinci Code currently sits at 23% on RottenTomatoes.com. For comparison's sake, the next three higher-rated movies are R.V., Hoot, and Phat Girlz.

Now I haven't actually seen the movie yet, so maybe I'm not fit to judge. But the consensus seems to be that the movie is just blah, so it probably wouldn't even be worth watching for the sake of ridicule.

Or is this actually a big conspiracy by the Catholic Church to downplay the movie so that no one goes to see it? Someone else go see it and let me know. If they'll let you....

All I know dude, is that XMen III was okay, not great. Brett Ratner really blows, it missed Bryan Singer's penchant for character development, which was the real reason why the previous two scripts worked.

Bill Gates wants to get Microsoft more involved with supercomputing, so he delivered the keynote address. Based on this admittedly small sample, I'd say Bill's parties are a lot more entertaining than his keynote speeches . The Microsoft party was hosted at the Experience Music Project , which is right next to the Space Needle . Upon arrival, I quickly located the main stage, along with the most accessible bars and appetizer spawn points. The first episode of Survivor: Panama: Exile Island aired last night. This season the gimmick is they've split the 16 contestants into four tribes to start out: older women, older men, younger women, and younger men (more on this later). After each reward challenge, the losing team has to leave one member behind to spend the night alone on Exile Island. The upside to this is that supposedly there is an immunity idol hidden on the island. Anyhoo, after five years and a dozen locations, Survivor is still your best destination for reality television. Oh I'm sure a lot of production-y stuff goes on behind the scenes, but toward the end of those 39 days, the contestants are beat-up, weathered and hungry. Some look downright emaciated. That's real.
